What is this place?

This website can be described as an online repository, a podcast, or a rehearsal stage.

What can I find here?

Improvised piano music, in audio and Logic Pro forms.

Who is the performer?

Currently the sole performer for this website is Łukasz Langa, a software developer based in Poznań, Poland.

How often is the music updated?

As of June 2009, the rules are as follows:
  • five improvisations every week
  • up to three pieces published at a time
  • no improvisations on public holidays
  • there will be planned periods of silence (you might imagine things like vacation, other projects, illness, etc.)

What are the rules of the improvisation?

As for the music, there are barely any. As for the publishing, there rules are:
  • a published piece must contain a single recording
  • no editing except for cuts can be made
  • for every new improvisation, a cut and uncut version of the improvisation shall be published in Logic Pro format along with the audio recording (old works won’t be affected by this rule since not always Logic files, especially unedited ones, can be found for them
  • the piece does not have to be created on the day of publication

How is the music recorded?

See the Recording Process section for details.

There’s too much of it already! How do I pick the good ones?

It is all a matter of taste, current listeners vary dramatically in opinions about every piece published to date. To help listeners find more music that they like, all improvisations are described by tags and themes. You can use them to narrow down the number of songs to check out.

Hey, it doesn’t sound like Mozart!

Yes, these improvisations are mostly of jazz, ambient or contemporary genre. There are exceptions but still, if you’re looking for a classical approach to the piano, this is not the place. For impressive improvisations also updated on a fairly daily basis, I recommend Eric Barnhill’s classical piano improvisation podcast.

I want to know more!
